live awake yoga translates ancient practices for the modern yogi to enliven body, mind, and spirit.

Yoga is about opening your hips and hamstrings, but also opening your eyes to the world around you and your own true purpose. It is about finding your center and feeling the earth beneath your feet. Meeting the divine teacher within yourself and recognizing your own innate power to heal and transform. And being more mindful and aware in each moment, on and off the mat.

live awake yoga was founded by kristin adair to weave yoga practice and teaching with seva – selfless service – and activism.

One of his students asked Buddha, “Are you the messiah?”
“No”, answered Buddha.
“Then are you a healer?”
“No”, Buddha replied.
“Then are you a teacher?” the student persisted.
“No, I am not a teacher.”
“Then what are you?” asked the student, exasperated.
“I am awake”, Buddha replied.

about kristin

Kristin is dedicated to bringing yoga into every aspect of life, on and off the mat, and inspiring her students to do the same.

Kristin believes deeply in the transformational power of yoga. She first discovered yoga after wandering into a class at her college gym more than a decade ago. It has led her on a winding path through graduate school and a professional career, around the world and back, and into the extraordinary role of teacher, where she continues to learn with every breath.

Kristin is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance. She teaches vinyasa yoga with an emphasis on mindfully linking breath and movement and finding alignment in the flow. Her classes are fun, energetic, and inspiring! She completed her 200-hour teacher training through Tranquil Space Yoga in Washington, DC, and is also certified to teach prenatal yoga as well as children’s yoga through YoKid. She offers gratitude to all of the inspiring teachers with whom she has studied, including Sharon Gannon and David Life of Jivamukti Yoga, Seane Corn, Alanna Kaivalya, and Darren Main.

Kristin is grateful for every opportunity to share the life-altering practice of yoga with others. In addition to teaching traditional group classes, she has volunteered to each yoga to homeless and mentally ill populations and incarcerated youth and offered charity classes in a variety of settings. Kristin has also completed the Yoga Purpose and Action Leadership Training with Off the Mat, Into the World. In 2011, she participated in Off the Mat, Into the World’s Global Seva Challenge and raised over $20,000 for Haitian non-profits.

As a trained lawyer, Kristin has worked in the political world and as a lobbyist for non-profit organizations. She is a self-proclaimed health nut and vegan foodie who enjoys cooking, vegetable gardening, photography, and spending time with her husband and three cats.
